History

When Reaktor was founded in 2000, the Finnish IT environment looked much different than it does today. At the time, there was a motley collection of entrepreneurs in the field. Many of whom were entirely reliant on risk financing with an assortment of software products that were frankly not always up to scratch.

The idea for establishing Reaktor was in part a result of the situation in the industry. The professional experience of Reaktor's founders had given them a strong sense of how things could really be done better. Consequently, this shared vision led to the rapid and natural evolution of Reaktor's guiding principles for developing the most effective methods and best practices in the IT industry.

The timing of the company's formation was not particularly auspicious. Reaktor's first year of operations coincided with the sudden bursting of the dot-com bubble. However, we had a strong belief in the demand for genuine professional competence regardless of the economic situation.

In this challenging environment, we considered very carefully what it would take to succeed. With this in mind, we placed high quality services, good clients, a healthy combination of humility and professional pride, hard work and common sense as the foundation of our operations.

We also wanted to be a company that pulses with life — full of genuine talented people eager for new challenges. We believed that working within a vibrant community in a creative environment would bring out the best in everyone.

This chosen direction proved to be the correct one and we began to enjoy significant growth from 2003 onward. It did not take long before Reaktor established itself as a leading, high-class IT provider. Since then our visibility has grown and our recognition has increased markedly. In 2008 we were selected as the best place to work, both in Finland and in Europe, and as company of the year by Tietoviikko magazine.

At the moment, Reaktor is one of Finland’s most successful IT companies, employing over 100 professionals. We are known in the field for those things that we identified as our desired hallmarks when founding the company: quality and determination.

We will keep on focusing on these very same strengths in the future.
